As the viewer walks into the room cracking occurs under their feet causing them to pause and question if they can continue.  The work degrades step by step, viewer by viewer. The material is a combination of latex paint, cement, loose weave jute and sand.  The colour looks to be the clay, but the consistency is off. The organic jute coming up from in between the bricks says it could not have been fired in a kiln.  The material has a distinct smell. Everything seems to be of natural, organic material but it is not.

Construction waste piles up in massive quantities in urban environments.  I chose to use the form of a brick made in cement with a wood grain texture to reference common building materials. These types of materials are more abstract when we attempt to think of them as garbage. As urban development continues in a cyclical manner these kinds of architectural wastes become increasingly difficult to dispose of.
